DELUXE RE-ISSUE OF CAPE GOD
SET FOR RELEASE ON NOVEMBER 25
FEATURING FIVE BRAND NEW SONGS

“Allie X washes her signature brand of electro pop in shades of brooding blues on Cape God, arguably her best (and most personal) album to date." – Entertainment Weekly

“Allie X constructs the kind of musical worlds you can get stuck into for hours.”  – Vogue UK

“… [the] world of Cape God is an alluring one, and Hughes’ vocal range is its unequivocal linchpin…’Cape God’ [is] the strongest concept in her catalog to date.” – Pitchfork

“…an artist who champions weirdos and outsiders, she’s also capable of lighting up huge crowds with empowering anthems.” – NME

“There isn't one false step on Cape God, … but [‘Super Duper Party People’]… is such a damn vibe. Let it be your entry point for an album that demands your attention.” – E News

“If every previous release was spun to weave a type of esoteric fairytale, Cape God is Allie X as an open book. With a notably spare production pallette, the characteristically maximalist songwriter removes the veil to reveal the voice behind it all on her most straightforward and introspective record yet.” – Billboard

“…[Allie X’s] best work yet. There’s a carefully crafted grit and griminess to the instrumentals that telegraph a sense of impending doom even before X’s vocals arrive…Every part of the record is talking to you.” – Exclaim!

Toronto, ON – November 19, 2021 – Following the February 2020 release of her stunning, Polaris Music Prize Long-Listed album, Cape God, iconoclastic pop darling, Allie X, was set to embark on a highly-anticipated tour in celebration of the record. Then, the world shut down. The global pandemic turned live music on its head, but now, Allie X is thrilled to be returning to the stage, with newly announced concerts set to take place across North America in 2022. With Canadian stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal through April, audiences are sure to be captivated by Allie X as she immerses fans into the surreal world of Cape God.

"I am truly thrilled to get back on the road,” exclaims Allie. “The amount of fans that held onto their tickets from two years ago touches me.  I can't wait to be in the same room as them and sing my heart out".

A full list of tour dates can be found below, and tickets can be purchased here.

Additionally, Allie X has announced the release of a deluxe version of Cape God, available digitally on November 25th, alongside a special vinyl edition, which can be pre-ordered here. The deluxe album showcases the 12 original tracks, plus five new songs, including the mesmerizing Anchor. Listen here.

"Written with all my favourite collaborators from Cape God, including Mitski, these songs were not included on the original record for lack of time to finish them, but are very special, and deserve to be heard.  They may answer some questions that fans of Cape God have, and they certainly go deeper into the fog,” comments Allie.

Released via Twin Music, Cape God features Mitski (on Susie Save Your Love) and Troye Sivan (on Love Me Wrong). The album is a carefully constructed meditation on universal themes of identity and belonging and, most importantly, a declaration of the autonomy we have when it comes to redefining ourselves and our place in the world. Allie subverts the notion of Cape Cod – the East Coast playground of elite insiders – and plunges listeners into a gloomy, grandiose fantasy world where anxiety-ridden outsiders take centre stage. Against a backdrop of darkly dreamlike production, she recalls teenage alienation and rethinks ostracization as a vehicle to unite rather than isolate.

Cape God is the follow-up to 2018’s, Super Sunset, which NYLON praised as the enigmatic artist’s “most open effort yet, a semi-fictionalized account inspired by falling in love and her life amidst all the L.A. glitz and glamour.” GQ said, “[On] the exceptional, singular Super Sunset, she finally enters the gates of pop heaven.”

With over a half billion streams globally, Allie X has amassed a cult following for her glassine goth pop style. Cape God continues to soar with hit tracks like Love Me Wrong (feat. Troye Sivan) and Susie Save Your Love (feat. Mitski). The critically-acclaimed album has received positive reviews from NME, Vice, The Guardian and Pitchfork, while Allie X has played sold out shows across North America, Latin America, and Europe and toured the world with pop-star counterparts like Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Marina.

Known for her bold visual style and her gaudy-goth-pop sound, Allie X is a master curator, creative directing every aspect of her project from hand-picking her photographers, directors, fashion and glam teams, to editing her own videos. This singularity has attracted much attention from the fashion world, where she has attended Paris Fashion Week, been covered by Vogue, and formed relationships with some of the world's most incredible fashion houses (Iris Van Herpen, Schiaparelli, Maison Margiela, Olivier Theyskens, Lanvin).

Allie X continues to be an outspoken ally for the LGBTQ+ community, sponsoring and spearheading charity events, playing pride festivals across the globe, and continuing to speak out and use her platform to fight injustices and empower LGBT youth. She is currently spending the bulk of her time writing and self-producing her next record, but recently appeared on Mistress Violet, a song that “sounds right out of the 1980’s goth scene” (NPR), which she wrote for drag icon, Violet Chachki.
