Toronto, ON – November 22, 2017 – Today, Boogát introduces the music video for Tanto Tattoo, featuring Mexican rapper, Niña Dioz, off his new album, San Cristobal Baile Inn. The video premiered exclusively via Noisey Latin America. Watch the video here.

As the title alludes, the song is all about tattoos, and the criticisms and prejudices tattooed people sometimes face. Regardless of what others think, the message is clear; be yourself, and own your tattoos!

Andrés Oddone worked on production for the track, and the result is an old-school Boom Bap sound inspired by East Coast 80s rap. The video was directed by Phil Chagnon in Montreal, who illustrated this world through a very raw and urban aesthetic. The black and white treatment reveals both the beauty of the tattoos and evokes a street atmosphere akin to an old clip of New York rap.

Boogát’s previous single, Sabes Muy Bien, is an open letter on family, love and friendship. The track, both romantic and danceable, explores how our choices define the way we live our lives. Another track, Mezcalero Feliz, draws inspiration from Mezcal, the drink, and its storied traditions. It provides a window into the millennium tradition of the Mezcalillero and Mezcolatra lifestyle.

San Cristobal Baile Inn was released on October 6, 2017, and follows Boogát’s 2015 release, Neo Reconquista, which includes collaborations with La Yegros, Sonido Pesa’o and Pierre Kwenders. The album took home the World Music Album of the Yea at The 2016 JUNO Awards, and the Félix Award at ADISQ 2016.

San Cristobal Baile Inn is Boogát’s third album, written entirely in Spanish, and revisits a more electronic sound, infused with rap and Reggaeton flavours. An uplifting and party oriented record, it stays true to the roots of Latin music, while remaining politically charged. The album was written while Boogát spent a year living in Mexico’s capital city, in search of his own personal connection to his parent’s culture. His mother, being from Mexico, he wanted to bring the family to the city, explore its neighbourhoods, music and subcultures. While doing so, he connected with the diaspora of international Latin musicians who congregate in the metropolis, making Mexico the number one city for Latin music.
