TORONTO, ON – November 19, 2021 – Today, Long Beach-based trio, half•alive, release their new single, Hot Tea, along with the music video via RCA Records. Hot Tea is co-produced by David Pramik (Lauv, Illenium, LANY) and OJIVOLTA (Kanye West, Jon Bellion, Halsey). The video is directed by half•alive’s Josh Taylor and choreographed by JA Collective. Check it out here. The band is excited to announce the first part of their new album, Give Me Your Shoulders, Pt. 1, will be released in February 2022.

About Hot Tea, Josh Taylor from half•alive says, “Hot Tea is a deep longing to be touched by life. A desperate desire to love someone with sacred, caring hands and be loved in return by people and God and her creation. We shot this video on tour, representing that desperate longing with plastic- a material that is nearly invisible, yet air tight. That was the feeling for me at least. Plastic is a thin filament that prevents pure exposure to the raw ingredients of life. An artificial, translucent barrier to the heart that I will claw at until there is nothing left.”

About Give Me Your Shoulders, Pt. 1, Taylor says, “We’ve never before explored the topic of love in our songs. This album is unexplored territory in that regard. It’s vulnerable. Exposing my shoulders to whoever will stop and listen. Many of the songs are about the cry for love’s hand around my heart. In one breath it’s about a person and about God. To ache for the comfort of another. To hide in the corner of their shoulder and know I am safe. Give Me Your Shoulders is Love. To give what you cannot carry. To accept another’s burden without condition. To yoke yourself with the author of Love and find rest for your soul.”

In support of the new album, half•alive will be hitting the road on their headlining Give Me Your Shoulders (TOUR) which will take them across North America as well as the UK and Europe, including Canadian stops in Toronto and Vancouver. Hot Tea follows the bands previously released tracks, Make of It, Summerland, Time 2, and What’s Wrong, which all came out this year. What’s Wrong was Most Added at Alt Radio around its launch and has garnered over 15.7 million streams worldwide. half•alive also performed it on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Check it out here. The band recently toured with Twenty One Pilots on their sold out Takeøver Tour, which wrapped up earlier this month.

About half•alive:
The music of half•alive breathes, evolves, grows, and changes alongside the lives of the Long Beach trio — Josh Taylor [vocals], Brett Kramer [drums], and J Tyler Johnson [bass]. half•alive officially came to life on the 2017, 3 EP, which sparked a palpable buzz on the strength of The Fall and Aawake At Night. Over the course of the next year, they crafted what became their massive breakout still feel., which has been RIAA certified Gold, rocketed into the Top 10 at Alt Radio and has over 276 million worldwide streams to date. The video organically surpassed the 10 million mark within two months as the song garnered acclaim from NPR’s coveted, All Songs Considered, and more. The trio sold out their formal debut headlining tour in 2019, which included two sold out shows at The Fonda Theatre in LA. The tour also included stops at major music festivals including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Bumbershoot. Later that year, the band made their late night television debut with a very special performance of still feel. on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Check out the incredible and unique performance here. They also performed Runaway on The Late Late Show with James Corden. In August 2019, they released their debut album, Now, Not Yet, which has amassed over 611 million streams worldwide to date. half•alive was named YouTube’s Artist on the Rise and their live Vevo DSCVR performances of RUNAWAY and arrow showcase their incredible creative artistry. Last year, half•alive released their EP, in Florescence, an audio and visual project that included orchestral arrangements of four tracks off their critically acclaimed debut album, Now, Not Yet, as well as videos for three of the four songs to accompany them.
