TORONTO, ON – September 16, 2021 – Today, Long Beach based trio, half•alive, release their new single, Make of It, along with the music video, via RCA Records. Listen here and watch here. Make of It is written by half•alive and OJIVOLTA (Kanye West, Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, Halsey, Jon Bellion) and produced by OJIVOLTA. The video is directed by Emma Portner.

Josh Taylor from half•alive says, “as always, there’s so many stories that went into the making of this song. writing, production, etc. but there was one moment of clarity in the writing process one night that felt like the crux to unlock this very personal story of mine which became Make of It. that moment happened when our producer Mark (of OJIVOLTA) stared at me during one of our writing sessions & abruptly asked ‘do you ever get mad? if so, would a half•alive fan who doesn’t speak english be able to tell if you were just from your tone?’. after thinking about the question for a while, i came to realize that there was an anger-sized hole missing in our songs. there were stories that i was restricting myself from writing because i wanted them to be perfectly processed, with happy endings to tie everything together. but sometimes the unprocessed, unhindered emotion is what the song needs. when that was realized, i turned on my mental faucet of unfiltered anger, 45 minutes later, the song was done.”

Make of It follows previously released tracks, Summerland, Time 2, and What’s Wrong, which came out earlier this year. What’s Wrong, which was Most Added at Alt Radio around its launch, had garnered over 12.2 million streams worldwide. half•alive also performed it on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! last month. Additionally, the band is wrapping up a run of headlining west coast shows with a stop at The Wiltern in Los Angeles tonight and Life is Beautiful Music & Art Festival this Sunday. Next week, half•alive will be hitting the road with Twenty One Pilots on their almost sold out Takeøver Tour, which starts in Denver, CO on September 22^nd.

About half•alive:
The music of half•alive breathes, evolves, grows, and changes alongside the lives of the Long Beach trio—Josh Taylor [vocals], Brett Kramer [drums], and J Tyler Johnson [bass]. half•alive officially came to life on the 2017 3 EP, which sparked a palpable buzz on the strength of The Fall and Aawake At Night. Over the course of the next year, they crafted what became their massive breakout, still feel., which is Gold certified and hit #43 at Alternative Radio in Canada, rocketed into the Top 10 at Alt Radio in the US, and has over 276 million worldwide streams to date. The video organically surpassed the 10 million mark within two months as the song garnered acclaim from NPR’s coveted All Songs Considered and more. The trio sold out their formal debut headlining tour in 2019, which included two sold out shows at The Fonda Theatre in LA. The tour also included stops at major music festivals including Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Bumbershoot. Last year, half•alive released their EP, in Florescence, an audio and visual project that included orchestral arrangements of four tracks off their critically acclaimed debut album, Now, Not Yet, as well as videos for three of the four songs to accompany them.
