"She’s already a star, now you just have to pay attention" NOW Magazine

TORONTO, ON – October 15, 2021 – As Haviah Mighty nears the launch of her Stock Exchange mixtape next month, time continues to be of the essence. This rings true on the project's latest single, Coulda Been U, where Haviah determines what's worth pursuing. Featuring fellow Toronto rapper, AstrokidjayCoulda Been U is the result of an Instagram correspondence that led to collaboration. While Haviah and Astrokidjay found common ground in melodic vocals with contrasting bars for good measure, the flowing, bass-heavy track layered with bold, reflective verse was produced by Haviah, Denise De’ion, and Mighty Prynce. Listen to Coulda Been U here ahead of Stock Exchange, out November 12.

"It's inspired by the new and different types of encounters that I find myself having with people – whether fans, strangers, existing friends - and realizing that some of those peoples' investments in me weren't coming from the right place," Haviah says. "Maybe they were excited about perceived income, profile, lifestyle, etc…but not so much about who I am, or what I have to offer. These days, I don't have time to waste, so I’m getting better at determining early on who/what is worth investing my time into. This song focuses on the fact that I know I'm a prize, so act right, or you'll miss out."

Coulda Been U follows Haviah's September single, Tesla. Produced by Haviah Mighty and Young Dreadz, the celebratory and reflective track is layered by ominous beats, synth-driven melodies, and hard bars. Listen to the song hereand watch the  video game-inspired visual. Following Haviah's 2019 Polaris Music Prize-winning album, 13th Floor, Stock Exchange mixtape is an international endeavour that will include collaborations with multiple Latin GRAMMY winning Barcelona-based artist, Mala Rodríguez (Flamenco), UK artist, Yizzy (Protest), US artists Jalen Santoy (Way Too Fast) and Old Man Saxon (Antisocial), to  JUNO Award-winning rapper, TOBi (Good On My Own Tonight),  Toronto DJ and Producer Grandtheft (Avocado), and more. The title refers to a reckoning Haviah had internally over the last year, connecting with how artists are forced to validate their value based on random data (followers, subscribers) and losing a part of the authentic human-to-human universal experience of art.

Haviah just rocked stages at Ottawa's Cranium Festival, Osheaga Get Together in Montreal, and an epic return to the UK for her debut at FOCUS Wales last week.

International audiences can check out Haviah performing a virtual set for Venus Festival on October 22, accompanied with an installation by Toronto artist, curator and cultural worker, Roya DelSol. On October 30, Haviah will head to Hamilton, Ontario's Pier 4 Park for Because Beer Festival. Hometown fans in Toronto will get to experience her unparalleled live performance at Phoenix Concert Theatre on mixtape launch day - Friday, November 12. In 2022, Haviah will support Arkells on a national run across Canada. Details and tickets can be found on Haviah's website and below.
