PROJECT TO ARRIVE WITH TROPICON ISLANDS NOVEL ON NOVEMBER 26

TORONTO, ON – October 22, 2021 – Chapters continue to unfold as Jamaica-born Toronto-based Hip-Hop/Dancehall trailblazer and community powerhouse, Lexxicon, continues to share music from his forthcoming album, Tropicon Islands, arriving November 19. Today, he delivers a live performance visual to accompany his new single, You Know Me. Produced by Artafacts, and inspired by the signature pop of Beyoncé to the vibe of Tinashe, Lexxicon brings his own heat in this smooth dancefloor-ready track. Listen to You Know Me and watch the performance here, filmed by videographer Mohtohsoh

In this chapter of the album, the couple has decided they can work it out as they know each other so intimately they fear no one else will have that depth of understanding of who they are. The sparks begin to fly again as they make love showing how much they really know about each other.

This song is about feeling as if no one else gets you the way that your person does,” Lexxicon says. “All the different way of communicating such as physical touch, words of affirmation or even acts of service, they get you and know how to switch things up that keep you excited. It’s a feeling like no other when someone understand you emotional and physically.”

The song follows Back To You, Lexxicon's collaboration with fellow Toronto artist, Desiire - a song filled with percussive energy, rhythmic baseline and sprinkled with beachy field recording samples. Tropicon Islands, a conceptual project, where a fictional, remote island is the setting for an intricate, yet real, love story and look at the many threads of a relationship. On Back To You, the couple reminisce about some of the ups and downs in their connection. Listen to Back To You here and pre-order the album here.

Back To You follows Bubble Everywhere, a single that captures the couple exploring the island where the album is set, inspiring listeners to dance, vibe and have a good time.  The song was featured on Tidal's Global Pop Playlist. The album kicked off with Power Over Mecapturing a turning point in a couple’s relationship and their expression of feelings towards each other. The music video was co-directed by Prince and Lexxicon, who previously collaborated on his videos for Doing To Me Di Don Don. Working with choreographer, Fizz, Lexxicon had one week to learn the choreo to create a 90's R&B/ Pop Boy Band energy with a contemporary R&B styling. Featured dancers include DerickCarlDominic & Lovon

Escape is the most prevalent idea on the project and which the whole album is named after a fictitious island, and the title of a novel Lexxicon will release in tandem this fall.  Read more about Tropicon Islands below. As the world continues to change, Lexxicon has always found solace in the music. This is the world he aims to create for his fans and listeners. On Tropicon Islands, the album, Lexxicon will merge his roots in dancehall and hip-hop with a deep study around pop music to create his signature form of Afro Pop. An ever-innovative champion of community work and inclusion (Lexxicon is the Director of AfroWaveTO, a Toronto based community creating a new wave of culture globally), he adds a deep study of pop music’s structure and ideas, to amplify and highlight Black voices in pop, proving they don’t need to be put into a specific box in the industry, and making space for these voices to thrive. Tropicon Islands is a fight to feel free, freedom from judgment, expectations and being able to love who you want on your own terms.

Last year, nothing stopped Lexxicon from blazing his path, releasing two smash hit EPs. Tropical R&B  was released on August 14, 2020, followed Lexxicon’s acclaimed Bashment Trap House, released on January 31, 2020. With Tropical R&B, Lexxicon set out to create an R&B record that infuses his dancehall roots. Themes highlight the desire to escape reality, the world, and negative feelings. The futuristic cover art seen above reflects this as it is an image of a gateway to another world. Lyrics explore loneliness, craving belonging and acceptance, and using intimate connections a temporary means of relief.

Venture further into Tropicon Islands with Lexxicon and stay tuned for more ahead of the album release.

When emerging global singing star Oceania dies in a mysterious accident after a sold-out 5,000-strong concert, young intern Adonis Thomas mutes his concerns about her untimely death. He just wants to carve out a place for himself in the heady world of mega-stars and talent management. However, when he realizes other major new voices are turning up dead, he begins to piece together a bizarre plot that reaches to the highest level of his company. Staying in the background, he discovers that billionaire investor Vernon Wilson, owner of Sephtis Entertainment, is using state-of-the-art AI technology to gain an edge over his rivals and make massive profits from the music artists he signs to his label. But, only if they’re dead. The startling truth he uncovers puts Adonis in a race against time to save both his life and the life of his loved ones and young stars who have signed with Sephtis Entertainment.
