BASHMENT TRAP HOUSE OUT NOW

Toronto, ON – July 17, 2020 – Following the successful launch of his album, Bashment Trap Housereleased earlier this year, Toronto’s sonic hybrid, Lexxicon, shares I Don’t Deserve YouThe track is the first single from his forthcoming EP, Tropical R&B, set to launch August 14. I Don’t Deserve You arrives with a lyric visualizer and official video here, which premiered via Imperfect Fifth

“This song is about finally finding someone to face the world with, who treats you with kindness, love and understanding,” Lexxicon says. “While grateful for finding this companionship there is still a part deep down where you still feel underserving of this type of affection. After spending so much time being emotionally manipulated, understanding and comfort feel strange. The lyrics ‘nothing’s guaranteed in a lonely, lonely world’ sums up the feelings of knowing that this kind of love is rare but also won’t last forever.”

Directed by Lexxicon and co-directed and produced by GoldenBoy, the visual for I Don’t Deserve You reflects the song’s themes in an intimate fashion to show feeling undeserving of an outpouring of love from special people in your life.

Tropical R&B was produced by Dominican Republic-born, Ontario-based, Eber. The EP follows Lexxicon’s acclaimed Bashment Trap House, released on January 31, 2020. With Tropical R&B,  Lexxicon set out to create an R&B record that infuses his dancehall roots. Themes highlight the desire to escape reality, the world, and negative feelings. The futuristic cover art seen below reflects this as it is an image of a gateway to another world. Lyrics explore loneliness, craving belonging and acceptance, and using intimate connections a temporary means of relief. Pre-order the album here.

“Despite trying to runway, it seems no matter where you go, we always take our human nature with us which eventually leads to the same results of isolation and pain,” Lexxicon says of the project. “Meaning while living we can never truly escape but must instead learn to live with pain and the love simultaneously. Welcome to the moody body of work called Tropical R&B.”

Bashment Trap House launched with four singles, including the standout track, Lonelyswagger-driven Di Don Doncelebratory Superstarand Lucky Lucky – a tribute to Lexxicon’s parents and their bond, and  Fatty Fatty, which celebrates inclusion and body positivity. Buy and stream the album here.
