TORONTO, ON – Monday, July 27, 2020 – Michael Gorman's (he/him) influence on the music industry has been felt since his early days, with no sign of letting up. The Toronto-based artist manager has been at the forefront of launching the careers of some of Canada’s most decorated and acclaimed musicians, with an impassioned dedication to developing and championing artists.

Today, Michael is thrilled to announce the exciting next chapter in his own professional journey, with the launch of Straight Up Management. Born out of COVID-19, in a time of major uncertainty, he founded the management company to guide the careers of under-represented, yet extraordinarily talented artists.

With Straight Up Management, Michael is now priming a new group of stars to step into the spotlight, including world-class Drag superstar, Tynomi Banks (Canada’s Drag Race), and former OHL player, LGBTQ+ advocate and public speaker, Brock McGillis, the first professional hockey player to openly come out as gay. He also recently began working with major brands and influencers – including Miss Fiercalicious, Jada Hudson, and Devine Darlin – on high-profile campaigns for Bud Light, Amazon, Crest, Nyx Cosmetics, SodaStream, and more.

About Michael Gorman:
Beginning with an internship at Chris Smith Management (Nelly Furtado, Fefe Dobson), Michael gained valuable experience before moving on to become General Manager of Last Gang Entertainment. During his four years at Last Gang, Michael was involved with launching the budding careers of Metric, Crystal Castles, Death From Above 1979 and Mother Mother towards international and mainstream success.

In 2008, Michael brought this wealth of experience with him to Pandyamonium Management, where he joined industry veteran Sandy Pandya in guiding the multifaceted careers of JUNO Award winners Serena Ryder, Jully Black, and Dear Rouge.

These exciting ventures illustrate Michael’s ability to develop bourgeoning careers and manage high profile clients.  Demonstrating no boundaries or limits to his ability to persevere, Michael is determined to take his clients straight up to the top!
