NEW ALBUM PINS AND NEEDLES OUT OCTOBER 8
ON FANTASY RECORDS

TORONTO, ON – September 24, 2021Natalie Hemby’s success spans two GRAMMY awards, eight #1 singles and much more, and on her new song, Pinwheel, out today, she reveals that sudden success – even when outside the public eye – is not always easy to handle. Listen to Pinwheel here.

The latest from her forthcoming Pins and Needles album, due October 8 via Fantasy Records, the percussion-driven song, Pinwheel, channels early '90s alt-rock that inspired Hemby growing up and features the lyrical individuality that has earned her recognition as “one of Nashville’s strongest creative figures” (Billboard). Written with Barry Dean (Ashley Monroe, Little Big Town, Thomas Rhett) and Madison Kozak, the song compares fame to a blurry kaleidoscope of colour.

“Pinwheel was the last song I wrote for the record,” says Hemby. "I wanted lyrics that summed up the last 10 years of my life, which has been an absolute beautiful blur. ‘Carried all my dreams by the handle, heavy as an anvil. And then they all showed up.’ Barry Dean and Madison Kozak helped me carve out what I wanted to say…. Like a therapy session.”

The last ten years of Hemby’s career, which she calls a “beautiful blur,” have made her one of the most in-demand contemporary songwriters. Her songs have been recorded by artists like Kacey Musgraves, Alicia Keys and Ed Sheeran to name a few, and she’s penned #1 songs for Miranda Lambert (White Liar, Automatic and Bluebird), Lady A (Downtown), Justin Moore (You Look Like I Need A Drink) and others. In 2019, she joined Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires to create The Highwomen, whose self-titled album debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Country chart. She earned her first GRAMMY for penning Lady Gaga’s I’ll Never Love Again, from A Star Is Born. Now, fans will hear the culmination of her successful career on Pins and Needles on October 8. Pre-order Pins and Needles here.

Hemby performed with her group, The Highwomen, at the Americana Honors & Awards this past Wednesday where they were nominated for Duo/Group of the Year. Last night, she performed her official AmericanaFest showcase at Cannery ballroom, and earlier this week, she was a featured artist at WMOT/NPR’s Live Sessions hosted at EastSide Bowl. She will participate in Change The Conversation Presents: Natalie Hemby’s Path to ‘Pins and Needles’ at The Westin today from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. CT.
