OVERCOATS RELEASE LOCAL NATIVES REMIX OF FIRE AND FURY

SOPHOMORE ALBUM THE FIGHT OUT NOW

Toronto, ON – May 7, 2020 – Critically acclaimed Brooklyn duo, Overcoats, share Local Natives’ remix of Fire & Fury today. The cross-country collaboration sees the California outfit add synth-spangled flair to the Overcoats original. Local Natives’ take on the track opts for an upbeat and propulsive tempo, giving weight to the song’s lyrics and overall hopeful message. “There’s a fire, there’s a fury, sky is falling but we’ll get through it.”

"We are such fans of Local Natives," Overcoats share. "We’re thrilled to be on a label with them and to be remixing each other’s songs! We love what they added to Fire & Fury, it really feels like it combines both of our vibes perfectly.”

Overcoats previously collaborated with Local Natives on a remix of their 2019 Violet Street album single, When Am I Gonna Lose You.

Fire & Fury comes from Overcoats’ recently released sophomore album, The Fight (Loma Vista Recordings). The 10-track album speaks to the ubiquitous feeling of anxiety when looking at the current chaos around us, and has become an almost prescient document for getting through the times we have found ourselves in. The Fight’s linked themes of overcoming adversity, avowing friendship, striving for loyalty, and seeking hope are needed more than ever. As people are currently starved for a light at the end of a tunnel and meaningful interaction, Hana Elion and JJ Mitchell of Overcoats offer a rallying cry and an antidote to these trying times.
