Toronto, ON – May 29, 2020 – Multiple GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® winner, Ricky Martin, surprises his fans around the world today with the release of his new EP, PAUSA (PAUSE), available now on all digital-music platforms.
Martin notes that timing is what inspired him to deliver PAUSA unconventionally: “The moment I heard the songs finished, I knew that following the traditional process of releasing an album was not the right route for me. For the first time in my career, I wanted to share it my way and allow the element of ‘surprise’ to do its magic. What you are going to find on this EP is transparency, romanticism, nostalgia, and a lot of life.”
Silence has always been an important part of Ricky Martin’s creative process. Revealing his most vulnerable and thoughtful side without type casting a specific genre, he went through a highly introspective period of channeling his emotions and experiences to create PAUSA.
These tracks take on their own identity as you listen, and feature duets with icons such as Sting, Residente, Bad Bunny, Diego El Cigala, Pedro Capó and Carla Morrison. The two hit singles released in advance of the EP, Cántalo (with Residente and Bad Bunny), and Tiburones (original version), revealed an evolution in Martin’s songwriting style. He felt complete creative freedom to mix sounds that evoke joy and the vibrancy of his Latin roots, while maintaining his signature romance and nostalgia.
Seamlessly produced by Martin along with Julio Reyes Copello, Montana, Raúl Refree, Residente and Alejandro Jiménez, PAUSA features songwriting contributions by Residente, Bad Bunny, Pedro Capó, Carla Morrison, Sting, Beatriz Luengo, Yotuel, Danay Suárez, Ender Thomas, Pablo Preciado, Alejandro Jiménez and Rec 808 Second Tier.
Without a doubt, PAUSA is a milestone in Ricky Martin’s remarkable career, and to our delight, this project features an upcoming second EP titled PLAY, comprised of more rhythmic songs to be announced soon.
