THE HOPE STATE ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER & DECEMBER RESIDENCY AT THE CAMERON HOUSE

PERFORMING EVERY WEDNESDAY
UNTIL THE END OF 2017

Toronto, ON – November 7, 2017 – For the rest of 2017, Toronto-based indie-rock artist, Taylor Johnson (aka The Hope State), is taking over the Cameron House! Kicking off tomorrow (Wednesday, November 8th), Johnson will hit the stage every Wednesday night, through November and December, with his collection of honest and heartfelt music, and preview new songs from his forthcoming debut album. Check out his live video performance of Just Survive for a taste of what to catch during his residency.

“I’m very excited to be back at The Cameron House,” comments Johnson. “It’s kind of a home away from home for me. It’s a very special place to play music. I wasn’t planning on playing any shows until the album was released, but I’ve spent too much time waiting over these last few years and immediately jumped at the opportunity to play.

Spending his formative years in the prairies of Saskatchewan where he cut his teeth writing songs and performing in various indie rock bands, Johnson relocated to L.A. at the age of 18 where he studied music business and began writing songs professionally for leading songwriters and artists in pop, country, hip hop and rock, which topped the charts in territories around the world. Although always thankful to be continuously working in the music industry, Johnson felt a large part of his artistic freedom and general happiness were being compromised working as a ghost writer. A longing for writing more personal, meaningful songs and performing said songs was ever present.

After battling with the decision to stay employed, or work on his own material, Johnson ultimately took the leap and left to pursue what he knew made him the happiest. With that, he began writing and performing as The Hope State. Now living in Toronto, Johnson began recording with JUNO Award-winner, Crispin Day (July Talk), and is set to release his debut album – an introspective and intensely honest look at regret, depression, addiction, love and loss – in the coming months.
