ON TOUR ACROSS NORTH AMERICA NOW
WITH TWO HOMETOWN TORONTO SHOWS
AT HISTORY ON AUGUST 5 AND 6

TORONTO, ON – July 20, 2022 – Today, award-winning alt-pop four piece, The Beaches, release their brand new single, Grow Up Tomorrow. Perfectly encompassing what it feels like to be young, carefree, and reckless, “Grow Up Tomorrow is a summer banger about being in a state of arrested development but enjoying the hell out of it.” Listen here.

Co-produced by Gus Van Go (Arkells, Whitehorse) and artist/songwriter, Lowell (Charlie XCX, Madison Beer, Hailee Steinfeld) – who also co-wrote the song with the band – Grow Up Tomorrow is a big, bright, ultra-catchy anthem in solidarity with all young adults still borrowing money, delaying doing laundry for weeks, and living in a basement, while their friends are buying their first homes, getting married, even having babies. The track begins with a captivating guitar line that is later joined by high-tempo percussion and an occasional whistle that, when paired with lyrics like, “God I think I lost my cellphone / Don’t know how I’m gonna find my way home,” revels in the feeling of consequence-free youth.

The accompanying music video, directed by Ievy Stamatov, depicts a hazy, late night, no-boys-allowed party scene complete with red solo cups, glittery eyeshadow, and a view through rose-colored glasses.

The Beaches describe their vision for the music video: “Since the song is such a fun bop we wanted to represent it in the only way we know how: by throwing a house party with all of our closest friends. I’ve recently come into my own in the queer community (Leandra), who have welcomed me with open arms, so I wanted to make sure we represented this new, big part of my life in the video.”

The band is currently on their North American Future Lovers tour that culminates with two hometown Toronto shows at History (August 5 and 6). They've already played sold out shows across Canada including Corona Theatre (Montreal, QC), London Music Hall (London, ON) and two sold out shows at the famous Commodore (Vancouver, BC). This North American venture follows experience opening for iconic acts such as The Rolling Stones and Foo Fighters, as well as many other critically acclaimed artists (Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morisette, The Aces, Passion Pit, and Eagles of Death Metal).

ABOUT THE BEACHES:
Named after the neighbourhood they lived in, The Beaches is composed of lead vocalist/bassist, Jordan Miller, guitarist, Kylie Miller, keyboardist/guitarist, Leandra Earl, and drummer, Eliza Enman-McDaniel. As self-proclaimed lifers, The Beaches forfeited a typical university experience to pursue their careers in music - a topic that is often addressed in their lyrics.

Taking inspiration from artists like Muna, Dayglow, Coin, Olivia Rodrigo, Girl in Red, Wet Leg, Wolf Alice, and The Strokes, The Beaches believe their upcoming releases will be a new direction for them: “We’re not abandoning our rock ‘n ’roll roots, but for this next chapter of our career we wanted to take ourselves less seriously, have fun, and be less precious with the musical ideas we pursue.”

After releasing their self-titled EP in 2013, the group landed a major label deal with Island Records in 2016. Under Island Records they released their debut album, Late Show – which was described by Elton John as “The best rock album of last year” – as well as their next two EP’s, The Professional (2019) and Future Lovers (2021), which were later combined for a full-length release called Sisters Not Twins (The Professional Lovers Albums) in 2022.

The Beaches have garnered over 52 million streams across Spotify, Apple and Amazon Music. Having sold 30,000 albums in Canada alone, it’s no surprise that they have found themselves awarded with five #1 singles on Canadian Alternative Radio. They have been recognized with two JUNO Awards for Rock Album of the Year (2022) and Breakthrough Group of the Year (2018).
