THE WILDERNESS OF MANITOBA ANNOUNCE LIVE AT THE HORSESHOE TAVERN A TRIBUTE TO BANDMATE ADAM BALSAM

FAREWELL TO CATHEDRAL ALBUM RELEASE SHOW WITH SPECIAL GUESTS ROBINSON KIRBY OCTOBER 5

TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE

TORONTO, ON – September 7, 2022 – Today, JUNO-nominated Toronto band, The Wilderness of Manitoba, announce they’ll be playing at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern on October 5, with special guests Robinson Kirby. This special night will serve as a tribute to, and celebration of life, for the band’s drummer, Adam Balsam.

Last October, just days before the band’s album, Farewell To Cathedral (Popguru Sound & Vision) was due for release, Balsam passed away suddenly and the group had to cancel their album release show.

Offer The Wilderness of Manitoba: "The Wilderness of Manitoba's upcoming show at The Horseshoe Tavern comes with mixed emotions. Just a little under a year ago, the band was preparing to unveil their new record Farewell To Cathedral live on the very same stage when they received the tragic news that their beloved friend and bandmate, drummer Adam Balsam, had passed away. To honour Adam's memory, the band will be performing the same set list that they had planned to do before his passing which includes a number of songs from Farewell To Cathedral as well as a diverse selection of songs from The Wilderness of Manitoba's back catalogue."

Farewell To Cathedral was recorded in just two days at Revolution Recording in Toronto, which was completely unprecedented. In the past, the band’s Will Whitwham felt he laboured over a lot of the sonic details, often adding overdub after overdub. But for this album, the songs were captured at their most live and purest stage. The results show that, at the end of the day, the quality of the songs is not necessarily contingent on the recording process. This was made clear on the album singles The Alchemist, Sometimes, Oblivion and The Well Has Run Dry. Listen to the full record here.

Tickets for the October 5 show are available in advance here and more information can be found on the Wilderness of Manitoba’s website.

About The Wilderness of Manitoba:
In its twelve-year existence, the Wilderness of Manitoba’s strengths come as a direct result of the wealth of traveling and playing the group has done. They have played the End of the Road Festival and Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD Festival in the UK and toured the UK, US, Netherlands, Canada and Germany with such artists as Aimee Mann, Lord Huron and Other Lives among others. “The live show,” says Whitwham, “is an in-the-moment portrait of the band and its efforts.” Those efforts were recognized when the Wilderness of Manitoba was nominated for a JUNO and two Canadian Folk Music Awards.
